Game Prototypes

Holes of Glory

This game was made by a team of 7 developers of which I was a part. We completed the game in 48 hours for our submission to the 3rd annual IGDA San Diego Game Jam. The theme of the jam was “Group Think”. Holes of Glory won the Best Design Award.

INTRO MENU.jpg

Holes of Glory is a 4 player local multiplayer developed for the PC using Unity 5. In the game players control one limb of a human body that is static and in the center of the screen. Players must use the dual analog sticks on their controllers to pose their limb to line up with a wall that is approaching (similar to the game show Hole in the Wall). Each player is awarded points for successfully matching their limb (which has a colored cube attached to it) to the cube positioned in the limbs cut out in the wall.

RoTetris

This game was made for my Prototyping class. The team consisted of six people. Members shared feature implementation equally but Justin Cook took lead on programming and Mykala Brown did the vast majority of the art. I took the role of designer, associate programmer and sound editor.

The class assignment was to recreate a classic video game and then change a core mechanic. My team chose Tetris as our classic game and game field rotation as our new mechanic. Field rotation was prototyped through multiple iterations until the team was satisfied with this new core mechanic.

2015 IDGA Game Jam Entry

The Bully Never Wins

This game was made over the course of 48 hours by a team of 6 Developers (Role breakdown is in the credits). I was one of the Game Designers and also collected and edited all of the sound effects. The music was Composed by Joe O’Quinn.

The theme of the Game Jam was: “The bully never wins”. My team elected to name our game the same as the theme. The Bully Never Wins is a top-down endless shooter game developed in JavaScript. You play as a school bully who enjoys picking on the preschool class. You throw dodge balls at the babies and catch the ones they throw. Eventually you will be overwhelmed and lose the game. Your limited success is measured by the score at the top of the screen.

As this is a Game Jam game a lot of the mechanics and features could not be implemented, here is the Game treatment document so you can see where we would have taken the game given more time.
